Ian has been CEO of Anacail since 2013. Ian has worked extensively with emerging companies and led the strategy, business plan development and fundraising for a number of spin-outs. He has held director, senior management and business development posts in a range of organisations including CEO of medical device company Ambicare Health Ltd a spin-out of Ninewells Hospital Dundee and St Andrews University, Director of Bionsensia an Irish University spin out, CEO of Terahertz Photonics Ltd, a Heriot Watt University spin out, and Business Development roles in the multinational ST Microelectronics and VISION Ltd, a company which went from Edinburgh University spin-out to IPO. Ian has wide experience of working with multidisciplinary technologies.
Gareth Voyle

Gareth has over 25 years of success in the UK and continental European FMCG industry. As COO then CEO of Geest plc from 1998-2005 Gareth moved Geest from number 3 to number 1 in the UK marketplace, delivered in excess of 8% p.a. sales growth, and led the company to a £500m sale to Bakkavor in May 2005 at a 36% premium to pre-bid share price. Since 2007 Gareth has served as Chair of Vision Capital’s food portfolio, arresting a >17% sales decline and now delivering >5% sales growth. Gareth is currently a Non-Executive Director at Oscar Mayer Ltd, a privately-owned fresh and frozen ready-meals business with £160m turnover, and is an active angel investor in several early-stage technology-based businesses. Gareth joined Anacail as Chair in November 2014.
Dr Hugh Potts
Dr Hugh PottsFounder and Chief Scientist
As Chief Scientist for Anacail, Hugh has 20 years’ experience in both plasma experimentation and modelling. He has extensive experience in creating and controlling atmospheric plasma sources, designing and building electrode systems and associated stabilisation mechanisms. Formerly a post-doctoral researcher in Dr Diver’s plasma team in Glasgow University, he was instrumental in securing a number of funding grants. Since 2009 he has been working on Anacail’s ozone-generating technology and was closely involved in the spinout of the company from Glasgow University in 2011, taking on the role of Chief Scientist.
Declan Diver
Declan DiverFounder and Director
Declan is a Reader in Plasma Physics at the University of Glasgow, and has been a Director of Anacail since it was first spun out of his research group in 2011. His primary research interest is in the physics of plasmas, particularly the underpinning scientific study of fluid and kinetic plasmas, and imperfectly ionised low-temperature technological plasmas, including formation, recombination and plasma chemistry. Declan maintains an active program of grant funded research in the field of plasma research alongside his role at Anacail.
Liz Kynoch

Liz’s career includes Group Technical & Trading Law Director at the world’s third largest retailer, Tesco plc where she provided her expertise for eight years. Prior to Tesco plc, Liz held positions at Safeway plc as Technical Director, at Express Dairies plc as their Technical & R&D Director and Liz began her career with Marks & Spencer plc in their food technology team. During her appointment at Tesco Plc, Liz sat on both Tesco’s Group Compliance and Corporate Responsibility committees as well as chairing the Health and Safety Committee. In addition, she has had external representation with the Institute of Grocery Distribution Technical Leadership Forum; was a Board member of Assured Food Standards; Chair at British Retail Consortium Strategy and Governance Committee; and member of the Dairy Industry Federation Technical Committee.
Jonathan Lintott

Jonathan co-founded Andersen Caledonia, a Scottish infection control firm, in 1997 and as well as managing and developing the business he has considerable experience in the installation and operation of sterilisation equipment and the manufacture of medical disposables. Prior to setting up Andersen Caledonia he worked for a steriliser equipment manufacturer being based in Asia, USA and Europe over the space of 5 years. Mr Lintott has been an active member of regulatory bodies in the USA and UK. He has a degree in Engineering from Oxford and a Masters in business from Insead (France).
